He terms Medical Care System to Medical Scare System during his speeches, and he explains how modern technology has created patients for a lifetime
I am sharing three medical scary stories throughout this book.
Medical scare –one: Flash back to 2013, we were expecting a baby and my wife completed 36 weeks of pregnancy without any complication. We were expecting a “normal delivery.” During one of the regular checkups our care provider told to my wife that the baby head circumference is more (37cm), and weight is more (3.3kg), and considering your height (160cm) normal delivery is impossible.
We were shattered by the news, we met head of the department (OBG) unsurprisingly, and she also informed the same and scarred us more. We were nearing to our EDD (Expected Date of Delivery), we were not knowing that nature does not have EDD, labor can begin within 36-42 weeks, it chooses its time, since every birth is unique and every person is unique.
Our care provider asked to get admitted four days before EDD on a weekday for C-section. We were anxious and tried every GOOGLE doctor’s suggestion to induce the pain. We ignored, that the baby is genius inside, he knows when to come out and he knows how to send signal when he is ready.
We delayed our admission by two days and got admitted on Thursday. We were anxious and requested again for normal delivery. To convince us, she started inducing pain, after nearly 36-40hrs of administration of synthetic pain and irregular pains, on Saturday evening at 3:30 pm, our care provider ‘DECIDED’ to opt for C-section and already she has lined up three patients for operation theater.
My wife was furious, but she was in pain and with fetal monitoring system wrapped around the body, with no proper food and sleep. She was helpless and scared, our care provider performed three births back to back and one normal delivery for her friend and left for the weekend.
Family and I were happy with the new born baby, but my wife was depressed and disappointed. She was not able to take food for two days due to gastritis (no food provided to administrate “PLANNED” anesthesia). She had severe pain and moreover baby was not shown to her for many hours and kept in NICU for routine checkups for at least a day.
Her discharge summary says, Labor: Induced | Mode of Delivery: Emergency LSCS (LSCS: Lower segment C-section)
We did not understand, who had the emergency?
Flash forward to 2019, when we visited our care provider (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) during our second child conception, she said “Baby, you cannot have normal delivery, since first one was C-section.”
